Cronulla JRL Proudly Backs Australia at the Physical Disability Rugby League World Cup
The Cronulla Junior Rugby League is incredibly proud to announce its sponsorship of the Australian Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) team as they take on the world's best at the 2026 Physical Disability Rugby League World Cup in Sydney.
As an official sleeve sponsor of the Australian side, Cronulla JRL is delighted to play a part in supporting these remarkable athletes and helping raise the profile of one of rugby league's most exciting and inspiring formats.
Coinciding with the Men's, Women's and Wheelchair Rugby League World Cups, the PDRL World Cup brings together Australia, England and New Zealand for a thrilling international competition, culminating in the World Cup Final at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, 8 November.
The PDRL Final will kick off at 4:15pm, ahead of a huge evening of international rugby league featuring the Australian Jillaroos taking on Fiji in the Women's Rugby League World Cup Semi-Final at 5:45pm, followed by the Kangaroos against Samoa in the Men's Semi-Final at 8:05pm.
And what a start it has been for the Australians.
Playing in front of an enthusiastic home crowd at Cabramatta Stadium on Friday night, Australia produced a magnificent performance to defeat defending World Champions England 20–12, recording their first-ever victory over the English side.
The Australians dominated the opening exchanges, racing to a 12–0 halftime lead before holding off an England fightback to claim a famous victory on home soil.
For anyone who has never experienced Physical Disability Rugby League, this is a fantastic opportunity to discover just how entertaining this version of our great game really is.
The speed, skill, determination and big hits are every bit as impressive as those seen in the NRL, with these extraordinary athletes showcasing their talent, courage and passion on the international stage.
Cronulla JRL Chairman John Mannah said the opportunity to support the Australian team was something the entire Junior League was enormously proud of.
"At Cronulla Junior Rugby League, we have always believed that rugby league is a game for everyone, and we are incredibly proud to be supporting the Australian Physical Disability Rugby League team at this year's World Cup."
"These athletes are an inspiration, and it is fantastic that we can play a small part in helping them represent their country, while also raising awareness and the profile of disability rugby league."
"Supporting participation and creating opportunities for people to enjoy our great game, regardless of their circumstances or abilities, is something we feel very strongly about. Rugby league comes in many forms, and every one of them deserves to be celebrated."
"We encourage everyone across our Junior League community to get behind the Australian team, come along to the games and experience firsthand the incredible skill, passion and excitement of Physical Disability Rugby League."
The 2026 tournament is only the second Physical Disability Rugby League World Cup, following the inaugural event in England in 2022. With Australia hosting this year's competition, it represents another important milestone in the growth and recognition of disability rugby league.
The three competing nations will play each other once, with the top two progressing to the World Cup Final at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, 8 November.
