The u17 Gold competition started the 2022 season with 6 teams but would ultimately finish with only 4 as Renown United dropped to the silver division and the Kurnell Stingrays who had dominated the competition in previous years folded.
For the past couple of years it has been De La Salle who has been the benchmark in this age group boasting a number of representative players who made this years Harold Matthews Cup Grand Final for the Sharks.
After upsetting Gymea in the Preliminary Final, Taren Point had something to prove although it would have to be a goliath effort to knock over the minor and defending premiers.
Ultimately it proved a mountain too steep to climb for Taren Point with De La Salle in the drivers seat from the opening whistle and never really being worried by a gallant and determined Taren Point outfit.
