The Cronulla Sutherland District Junior Rugby Football League Board extends its heartfelt gratitude to all clubs, players, volunteers, and referees for making the 2024 season a resounding success.
Despite the challenges posed by rain, the league successfully completed eleven competition rounds and hosted eight Gala Days for non-competitive age groups. The season concluded with two weeks of finals, culminating in a spectacular Grand Final Weekend at Shark Park, where Joeys emerged as back-to-back A-Grade champions.
The league witnessed significant growth, with player participation increasing by 8.6% year on year, totaling 6108 registered players. Female participation saw remarkable growth, with League Tag numbers rising by over 20% and female tackle growing by 12.5%. Senior men's tackle age groups also experienced a substantial 31% increase.
Several initiatives contributed to the season's success, including the 'Tag to Tackle' transition program for female participants, the return of the Luke Lewis Cup contest against Penrith, and live streaming of all senior competition games via BarTV. The league also provided free access to live streaming of all grand finals and engaged professional photographers to capture high-resolution photos for clubs and participants.
This final edition of Shark Attack News for 2024 recognises all premiers and major award winners, a first in this format. The league looks forward to continuing its growth in junior and senior rugby league in the Shire in 2025.
Have a great off-season and look forward to welcoming you back for an even bigger and better 2025.
