Sutherland Oval came alive on the weekend as Cronulla Junior Rugby League celebrated the graduation of its youngest players at the Under 7 Tackle Ready Graduation Gala Day — a fantastic showcase of community spirit, junior footy, and plenty of fun.
A total of 26 teams over our 13 clubs took to the field, with over 230 young players proudly representing their clubs in a day dedicated to learning, participation, and the love of the game. The Tackle Ready program is all about building skills and confidence in a safe, supportive environment, and the gala day was the perfect way to mark how far these juniors have come.
The atmosphere was electric, with a total attendance of over 600 people made up of players, families, coaches, and supporters who lined the side lines to cheer on the next generation of Sharks. The sense of pride from parents and the joy on the players' faces made for a memorable occasion.
Every player walked away a winner. In recognition of graduating from the program, all participants received their graduation medals — a well-earned reward for their effort and commitment throughout the season. To top off the celebrations, players were also treated to a bag of lollies and, most importantly, the classic footy favourite: a sausage sandwich for all.
A huge thank you to the volunteers, coaches, officials, and families who made the day possible. Events like this are the heart of junior rugby league, and the Under 7 Tackle Ready Graduation Gala Day was a shining example of everything our community is about.
