De La downs Como in Open Silver Grand Final

For the first time in recent history the open senior Grand Finals were being played on a Saturday afternoon and as fate would have it, De La Salle was playing Como in both the Open Silver and Open Gold deciders for season 2020.

De La Salle were firm favourites heading into this match with Como winning their place in this Grand Final late in the week following the disqualification of Renown United who had battled it out all season with De La Salle narrowly missing the minor premiership which De La ultimately claimed.

For Como's Brett Caroll this game would represent his 15th Grand Final appearance in his stellar 30 year career playing for the Crocs. With talk of retirement for Caroll this game would have special meaning regardless of the result with his family including his father being present for match.

In what was ultimately a close match De La Salle prevailed 16 - 6, but Como were far from disgraced forcing their opposition to fight hard for their victory which would ultimately see De La Salle claim both Open Silver and Open Gold titles in 2020.

Congratulations to De La Salle on winning the Open Silver Grand Final and thanks for putting that 'De La'z on Fire' song in my head which I now can't get out - LoL.
