Sharks Academy u16 vs Balmain Tigers

It was billed as Sharks 'Super' Saturday with all teams in action across the day from the NRL down to the u16 Sharks Academy squad. The grey skies and drizzle would not put a dampener on our Academy squads' enthusiasm who were looking forward to their first hit out in several weeks.

A 40 man squad including some players from the Harold Matthews Cup team played the Balmain Tigers in a friendly trial match at Sharks Academy fields at Green Hills. The Tigers were also in town playing the Sharks in the round 4 of the Harold Matthews Cup and SG Ball at PointsBet stadium kicking off at the same time.

This match was an opportunity for both sides to trial their players across 4 x 20 minute quarters testing themselves against opponents who they hope to play next year when this age group will represent their respective clubs in the 2022 Harold Matthews Cup.

Both teams put on some great tries, strong defence and played with determination despite it being a friendly trial game no kicking for goal or score being kept. Congratulations to all the boys on a great game played in good spirit.
