Sports Medicine Institute Continues Partnership with Cronulla JRL

Updated: Jan 14, 2022

Cronulla JRL are pleased to announce that Sports Medicine Institute (SMI) will continue its partnership with the Junior League into the 2022 season. With the partnership beginning at the start of the 2021 season, both Cronulla JRL and SMI are both looking forward to a successful, and hopefully uninterrupted 2022 season.

During 2021, Cronulla JRL experienced its highest ever participation numbers and led New South Wales in the number of female players participating in the sport. By continuing partnerships with businesses from our local area, we can focus on building further on the successes of previous years.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr George Pitsis - Practice Principal at SMI said “that providing affordable specialist health care services to the players in the CDJRL is part of our continued investment into the local Sutherland Shire community. As chief medical officer of the Cronulla Sharks NRL team, it seemed an obvious partnership to link with the CDJRL and we are happy to provide discounted medical services to the players at a grass roots level.”

Nathan Waugh, Chairman of Cronulla JRL added “Our partnership with SMI as our preferred junior league player injury/rehab and education provider is a fantastic joint venture between both parties. The facilities and expertise that SMI can provide our players and participants access to is invaluable and I encourage all to get in contact with the SMI team for more information. Get down there and check out the facilities. I thank Dr George for his unwavering support of our local players and their clubs.”

As part of the partnership players, members and spectators will be seeing the SMI brand at grounds across the Sutherland Shire each week, in the form of signage around the field as well as their logo appearing on the sleeves of all the trainers assisting each team across our 14 clubs. Cronulla JRL will also be utilising the state-of-the-art facilities at SMI for a number of events and workshops across the season.
