Women's Rugby League Shines in the Driving Rain

Sunday afternoons have traditionally been the stage for men's A-Grade rugby league but not anymore. Now it's time for the women to shine and on a torrential afternoon at Scylla Bay Oval at Como that is exactly what they did when the Como-Jannali Crocodiles took on the Leichhardt Wanderers in the Combined Women's Open Age game last Sunday.

In driving rain and on a pitch where ducks would have been more at home, both teams showed grit and determination to overcome the elements and showcase a women's game of rugby league deserved of it's main game status on a Sunday afternoon.

Despite Como-Jannali running out convincing winners 42 - 0 both teams should be extremely proud on what was a highly entertaining game to watch despite the harsh conditions.

This is truly an exciting and fast growing area of our game and the Cronulla JRL are proud to be supporters of Women's Rugby League and look forward to seeing more of it being showcased in prime time such as it was last weekend.
