Sharks Fall at Final Hurdle in Tarsha Gale Grand Final

The Sharks Tarsha Gale Cup side’s outstanding 2026 campaign has come to an end, falling 20–6 to the Parramatta Eels in the Grand Final at Leichhardt Oval.

In a season-defining effort, the Sharks showed plenty of resolve on the big stage, matching it with the Eels throughout a strong opening half. Despite conceding early, Cronulla responded to take a 6–4 lead into halftime, with Ella Ropata producing a superb sideline conversion following the Sharks’ only try of the match.

However, the contest shifted just before the break, with Ropata leaving the field through injury and unable to return — a moment that proved pivotal heading into the second half.

Parramatta lifted after halftime, applying sustained pressure through the middle and controlling field position. The Eels held the Sharks scoreless in the second stanza, pulling away to secure back-to-back premierships.

While the result didn’t fall their way, it does little to diminish what has been a remarkable season from the Tarsha Gale Sharks. From their run to the Grand Final to their resilience under pressure, this group has consistently demonstrated character, connection and pride in representing the club.

A Season to Celebrate

This team’s journey to the decider was built on hard work, belief and a strong collective spirit, guided by the coach Andrew Fifita and the remainder of the support team.

The experience gained on Grand Final day will serve the group well, with the future bright for a squad that has already achieved so much.
