Sharks Split Results in Jnr Rep Round 5 as Girls Continue Strong Form

The Sharks Junior Representative sides experienced mixed results in Round 5 of the NSWRL Junior Representative season, with the club’s female teams continuing their strong campaigns while the male squads faced tough outings against the Sydney Roosters.

Lisa Fiaola Cup

The Lisa Fiaola Sharks made it three consecutive wins, producing another dominant performance to defeat the Illawarra Steelers 40–10.

After an even first half, with both sides crossing twice, the Sharks took control after the break, running in seven tries to pull away decisively. The victory sees the Under 17s move into the top four, having scored 164 points across their last three matches.

Tarsha Gale Cup

The Tarsha Gale Sharks secured a dramatic 18–14 win over the Steelers in one of the finishes of the round.

Trailing for much of the contest, the Sharks showed resilience to stay within reach before a late surge in the final minutes sealed the result. The win gives the side four victories from five matches, keeping them firmly inside the top four as the competition enters its back half.

Harold Matthews Cup

The Harold Matthews Cup clash with the Roosters was evenly contested early, with the sides locked at 12–12 at halftime.

A decisive period early in the second half proved costly, with the Roosters crossing for four tries in a 12-minute span to take control of the match. The Sharks were unable to recover, slipping to their fourth loss of the season.

SG Ball Cup

The SG Ball Sharks were also defeated by the Roosters, going down after trailing 16–6 at halftime.

An early try provided a positive start, however the Roosters controlled the remainder of the contest, adding 22 unanswered second-half points to secure the win. The result leaves the Sharks with one win from five matches.

With five rounds complete in the nine-round competition, the Sharks now turn their focus to the final stretch of the regular season.
